Anesthesia and Sedation

Anesthesia and sedation in dental treatments are used to minimize pain and anxiety, ensuring a comfortable experience for the patient. They range from local anesthesia, which numbs a specific area, to sedation, which relaxes the patient during the procedure.

Types of Anesthesia and Sedation

  • Local Anesthesia: Numbs a targeted area, commonly used for routine dental procedures.
  • Sedation: Used for more complex treatments; can be administered in mild (conscious sedation) or deep (IV sedation) forms.
  • General Anesthesia: Puts the patient to sleep, typically used for surgeries or patients with severe anxiety.
  • The choice of anesthesia depends on the procedure's complexity, patient preference, and the dentist’s recommendation
